The next launch of the Electron rocket failed
Rocket Lab was unable to launch several small satellites into Earth orbit using the Electron launch vehicle due to a launch failure. This was reported by the press service of Rocket Lab. The next launch of the Electron light-class launch vehicle was carried out from the Launch Complex 1 cosmodrome on the Mahia Peninsula in New Zealand on July 4. The rocket was supposed to put into orbit several small satellites of Spaceflight Inc., Canon Electronics Inc., Planet i In-Space Missions. The rocket successfully launched, the separation of the first stage also took place in normal mode. However, about four minutes after launch, problems began, as a result of which the launch vehicle and payload were lost. We regret that our customers lost their satellites. Today's failure recalled that errors are not forgiven for space launches. We will understand the problem, solve it and resume launches as soon as possible, said Rocket Lab founder and CEO Peter Beck. Rocket Lab conducted the first test launch of the Electron rocket in 2017. The unsuccessful launch on July 4 interrupted a series of 11 successful launches. As previously reported by the news agency, on June 13, Rocket Lab, through the Electron launch vehicle, launched a package of small satellites into Earth orbit, including a research vehicle of the US aerospace agency NASA and three satellites of the US National Directorate of Military Space Intelligence.
