Rouhani called for promoting the digital economy in Iran

On June 30, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called on Economy Minister Farhad Daypasand to prepare the ground for companies active in the digital economy to be listed on the stock market. This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA. Speaking at a meeting of the government's economic headquarters, the president said that perhaps a special market should be formed to register knowledge-intensive companies, as well as those companies that are actively working in the digital economy. Rouhani stressed that the spread of the pandemic should be seen as an opportunity to develop e-government and take advantage of various new opportunities. He also called on relevant organizations to help remove obstacles to the expansion of virtual business and implement the necessary planning to stimulate the private sector. The President instructed the Minister of Economy to study the proposal of Minister of ICT Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi, which provides for the definition of a package of tax loans instead of tax benefits for startups.
