Tajikistan: number of pensioners grows, size of pensions decreases

At the beginning of June 2020 in Tajikistan, the number of elderly people of retirement age reached 722 thousand 14 pensioners, while at the beginning of April 2020 this figure was 715 thousand 429 people, the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan reports. Thus, the number of pensioners in the country in one month increased by 5 thousand 585 people. At the same time, for the period from April 2019 to April 2020, the average pension decreased by 2.3%. That is, if earlier pensioners received 308 somoni (about 2075 rubles) per month, now 301 somoni (2028 rubles). The ministry notes that in January-May 2020, taking into account the balance at the beginning of the year (16.6 million somoni, which is equivalent to 112 million rubles), pensions and benefits in the amount of 959.7 million somoni (6.5 billion rubles) were paid.
