Residents of the business capital of Nigeria were forbidden to leave the house without masks

Authorities in Nigeria's business capital, Lagos, issued a directive on mandatory wearing masks for individuals in public places to stop the spread of coronavirus. This is reported by the Air Force Africa with reference to the statement of the Governor of Lagos Babajide Sanvo-Olu. The city identified 731 cases of coronavirus infection, more than half of the total confirmed cases in Nigeria. Sanvo-Olu said anyone who would not use the mask in public places in the city would be punished. The governor added that the government would distribute masks to residents. The state has a population of about 20 million and many live in overcrowded areas. Recall that in the states of Lagos and Ogun, as well as in the capital of Nigeria, Abuja, within a month a full quarantine was introduced. President Muhammad Buhari is expected to decide soon to extend these measures. About 40 people died of COVID-19 in Nigeria, while the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection rose to 1,273.
