28 administrative cases initiated in Latvia for violation of the emergency regime


The State Police of Latvia has initiated 28 administrative cases of violation of the emergency regime introduced in Latvia since March 17 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, writes the portal diena.lv. In cooperation with the municipal police, the State Police carried out 26 planned inspections and registered 38 signals about possible violations of the emergency regime, and a total of 1,000 preventive measures were carried out. Most violations are related to non-compliance with the self-isolation regime. The Code of Administrative Offences provides for a fine of 350 euros for non-compliance with the emergency regime. For repeated violation, if it threatens the authority or system of administration or the interests of persons protected by law, imprisonment for up to three years and a monetary fine are provided. If the violation had serious consequences, the Criminal Code referred to imprisonment for eight years.
